Trinity Lutheran School operates under the authority of God and as a ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.  The Board of Education is the supervisory board for Trinity Lutheran School and all of its functions.

Pastor Ken, TrinityPastor Ken has served congregations in Iowa, Wisconsin, and the St. Louis area. He also was privileged to serve at Concordia Publishing House, the publishing arm of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. His passions in congregational ministry have always been uplifting worship, growing as disciples of Jesus Christ, and caring for one another in our times of need. He’s a certified facilitator for 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, and enjoys reading in the areas of marriage enrichment, personal strengths and leadership, and history. His personal mission statement is “Enrich, Equip, Encourage.”

Matt Riley

Mr. Riley, PrincipalMatt earned his bachelor’s degrees in theology and German from Valparaiso University, and his master of education degree in Leadership in Literacy from the University of Sioux Falls.  He has taught on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and in Rapid City elementary schools in western South Dakota.  He also had the opportunity to open and direct the Lakeview Villages site while serving as one of the program directors at Lakeview Ministries.  Matt met his wife, Jenn, when they were students at Valpo.  Matt and Jenn have three children: Kati and Elli (6), and Nate (5).  He loves being part of the ministry here at Trinity.

“God has blessed me in a ministry working with people that I love!”   Cara Hougesen graduated in 1985 from Lutheran High School of Indianapolis, pursued her teaching degree at  Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois and graduated in 1989.  She had taught two years in the Department of Defense in Fulda, Germany while her husband was stationed oversees for four years.  Rich and Cara have three boys, Japheth,25, Caleb, 23, and Seth, who is 18.  All three boys have graduated from Lutheran High school of Indianapolis and are now finishing up their degrees in  criminal justice and sports management.  Cara has been teaching at Trinity for the past ten years, while being in the Ministry for twenty-three years.  Over the past year she has taken over the Admissions role and continues to teach the Junior High religion courses, which she absolutely loves.

Erika, Children's Care CoordinatorErika joined our full-time staff in 2016.  She coordinates the Trinity Children’s Care program (day care and before/after school programming).  She served many years as a care provider in our former Baby Lambs day care program, before becoming the coordinator.  Erika has a passion for education, especially early childhood.  She is a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and always looks for ways to further ministry here.

Trinity Preschool Linsei Geveden is the Early Learners Teacher at Trinity Lutheran, she also wears many ‘hats’ here. She is an aide in Preschool and Kindergarten and a caregiver in Baby Lambs. Linsei was born in raised in Indianapolis Indiana. She is a Trinity graduate and high school grad from Warren Central class of 2004. Linsei completed her CDA and looks forward to further her education in Early Childhood. She has one 9 year old daughter who attends Trinity and will be entering the 3rd grade. Linsei enjoys reading, being outdoors, and surrounded by family and friends. Linsei loves being a part of this amazing ministry and loving these children to Christ.

Trinity PreschoolMonica Burkhardt teaches PreKindergarten at Trinity. She was born and raised in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from Concordia University, Chicago, Illinois. Her husband , Terry, is a teacher at Southport Middle School. They have two grown daughters, Kara and Laura. Her hobbies include reading, crafts and traveling.

Trinity KindergartenRebecca Hoff is the kindergarten teacher here at Trinity Lutheran School. She studied elementary education at Butler University. Since graduating from Butler University in 2002, Rebecca has used her teaching background here locally in Washington Township and abroad in South Africa. Rebecca is currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she attends with her husband Phil and two sons, Ian and Jeremiah. Rebecca’s hobbies include gardening, scrapbooking, and hiking with her family.

Jenny Jones

Trinity Lutheran SchoolThis will be Mrs. Jones 11th year at Trinity. She is married to Scott, who is a structural engineer. They have two daughters, Katelyn, who is 20 and a junior at Purdue, and Emily, who is 17 and a senior at Lutheran High School. She is a graduate of Ball State University and has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She likes traveling with her family, attending Purdue football and basketball games, scrapbooking, and reading. She is also a Drew Brees and New Orleans Saints fan. Mrs. Jones really enjoys teaching first grade because she loves the excitement and enthusiasm that six and seven year olds have for learning. It is especially rewarding seeing children take off with reading.

She attended Ball State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts in Education degree. She also completed the Colloquy in Religion at Concordia Wisconsin. Mrs. Smith is blessed to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. She has been a member of Trinity since birth and graduated from Trinity Lutheran School. She loves teaching and sharing the Gospel with her students.

Cheryl Stoltenberg

Cheryl Stoltenberg grew up in Seward, Nebraska.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Math from Concordia University Nebraska. Cheryl has been in education over 25 years.  She has taught preschool, first, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.  She is currently teaching third grade at Trinity Lutheran School. Cheryl has four children and six grandchildren.  She enjoys spending time with her family and her lovable dog Pudge.  Cheryl is an avid sports fan and especially enjoys watching the Nebraska Huskers! Cheryl is passionate about working with students and sharing the love of Christ with them.

Katie Winningham

Trinity Lutheran SchoolMrs. Winningham is entering her eleventh year of teaching, and her sixth year at Trinity. She received her bachelors degree from Concordia University Chicago and her Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. She and her husband Patrick have four children who all attend Trinity. In her free time Mrs. Winningham likes to read, bake, and do outdoor activities with her family.

Hannah Jung is the 5th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at Trinity Lutheran.  Ms. Jung is the Physical Educator for first through eighth grade, as well as a coach for soccer and track.  This school year will be her fifth year teaching and coaching at Trinity. Ms. Jung graduated from Ball State University in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education and Health.  She is a native of Indianapolis and a graduate of Lutheran High School. GO SAINTS!

Ms. Jung is passionate about sharing the love of Christ through education.  She strives to create engaging learning experiences and appreciates those opportunities she has to share with her students.  In her free time, Ms. Jung enjoys playing soccer and spending time with her friends and family.

Trinity Lutheran SchoolBecky Thibodeau has been teaching middle school language arts at Trinity Lutheran School since 2001. She has been teaching English since 1994. She is married and has two daughters. She enjoys reading, writing, swimming, hiking, gardening and cooking. Also, she loves to serve the Lord in her church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Mr. Rolf grew up in Palmyra, Missouri, and Clintonville, Wisconsin.  As a result, he is a St. Louis Cardinal and Green Bay Packer fan.  Joel met his wife, Sheryl, while a student at Concordia, River Forest.  Their son, Jeremy, graduated from MacMurray College.  Their daughter, Andrea, is a student at Ball State.  He has served as a Lutheran School educator for 27 years. This includes time in Roselle, Illinois; Wichita, Kansas; and here in Indianapolis.  He enjoys his “date nights” with his wife, and attempting to beat his children at golf.

Sharon Groth

Trinity Lutheran SchoolMrs. Groth graduated from IU with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Special Education. She started the preschool programs at Calvary and Emmaus in the 1980’s. She then took a leave from teaching to raise my three daughters, Sarah, Becca, and Stephanie. She currently has 2 grand daughters, Ava (Becca and Caleb) and Ruah (Sarah and Matt).  Mrs. Groth worked at Lutheran High School for 10 years as the Athletic Assistant.  This will be her fourth year teaching at Trinity.  She is the Resource Teacher and works with students at risk academically, students who have individualized learning plans, and manages the Title I and Title III (English Language Learners) programs.  She also works as a Cardiac Monitor Tech at St Francis.  She enjoys sewing and embroidering, and spending time with family.  She is passionate about her ministry and CHOCOLATE!

kristiKristina has been a member of Trinity since 1992.  She has worked at Trinity, in various capacities, since 1994 and has been the school secretary since 2011.  Kristina and her husband Brian have three sons; two are educators and one is in law enforcement.  Kristina and Brian have five grandchildren.  Kristina enjoys cooking, baking, crocheting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
