Principal's Ponderings

I am sure that everyone has their “memories” of Christmas. This year was the 12th consecutive year that my brother and his family came from St. Louis to help me put up my Christmas lights. Every year we always watch Christmas Vacation late at night after we finish. I’ll never get tired of hearing Clark W. Griswold say about his choice of a giant tree, “It’s not going in our yard Russ, it’s going in our living room.” Or “Two-hundred fifty strands of 100 bulbs each for 25,000 lights.” For some people, it’s “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets it’s wings,” or Linus reciting the Luke account of the birth of Jesus. Growing up, it was going to church so late at night on Christmas Eve that the traffic light in town was flashing yellow. I’m not sure I’ve ever “felt” Christ’s presence more than on those nights when I was a child.

Usually, the cartoon that I add to my article is just for a quick chuckle. I include this one to help make my point. Even with the power of the Christmas story, many people find excuses to not make worship a priority. Our church and school do everything we can to connect families to Christ. It is still, however, a personal choice to make worship the important activity each week. This year, allow the birth of the Savior the opportunity to touch you as it has me since the days of my youth. You will feel the love of Christmas when you make the commitment to worship.

School happenings in November:
◊ Our girls and boys varsity basketball teams participated in the Lutheran High School basketball tournaments.
◊ The Early Childhood and Grades 1-8 welcomed their families for Grandparents’ Day.◊ “Donuts with Dad” one morning before school
◊Our students collected over 550 canned goods for our food pantry.

Please continue to pray for our Ministry. Merry Christmas!
