**Drinks Available - 2% Milk (White, Chocolate, Vanilla & Strawberry) or Orange Juice.  The school must have a milk waiver on file in order for a student to receive Orange Juice.

Trintiy Lunch Program

Along with the main meal, children are offered a fruit and a salad daily.  We hope that your child will enjoy the new variety of items being offered to them.

Month of March

March Chapel

The March Chapel theme is “Self Confidence/Self Image”, the verse is 1 Samuel 16:7, and the offering will be for “The Trinity Lutheran Food Pantry”. 7th Grade will lead Chapel on Wednesday, March 17.  Chapel is every Wednesday at 8:30am. Parents are welcome to attend at any time.

Sci-Fest

The following students will represent Trinity Lutheran School at the Lutheran Grade Schools’ Science Festival on Friday, March 12, at Lutheran High School (5555 S. Arlington Ave. - click here for a map to LHSI), beginning at 7pm.

It’s Laser Tag to the X-Treme!

Students, 6 years old and older are invited to Trinity Lutheran School’s Spirit Night at X-Site on Monday, March 15, from 6-8pm.  Admission is $10 per person.  Add $2.50 if your child would like some pizza, too.  You MUST purchase your tickets in advance.  Don’t miss out - Tickets are on sale now and there is a limited amount available!  X-Site is located at 6155 E. 86th Street.  Click here for a map to X-Site.

We will be taking the Lutheran High School bus, so if you want your child to ride the bus, please let us know at the time you purchase your tickets.  The bus seating is limited, so hurry and reserve your child's spot. 

Also, we will be offering tickets to area Lutheran schools beginning Monday, March 8, so be sure to get your tickets before they are sold out!

Scrip

Are you planning a Spring Break trip, or are you staying close to home?  Either way, you could use some Scrip gift cards.  We have Scrip available for the travelers and the non-travelers.  Choose from different  hotel chains, restaurants, gas stations, movie theaters, and much more.  Place your orders by March 15, and they will be ready for pick-up on March 24, just in time for Spring Break.  An order form has  been sent home with your child. Operetta

“Good News from a Grave” is an Easter celebration for kids, where the kids are helping the caretaker at Good News Gardens prepare for the annual Easter sunrise service.  As they rake, scrub and clip, the children recall the highlights of the Holy Week.  The setting is in the very place the resurrection occurred - a graveyard!  Children in grades 1-5 will present the operetta on Friday, March 19, at 7pm.

Children are to wear a Trinity T-shirt (White or Royal blue) and long pants.  They are to be in their classrooms by 6:45pm.

End of 3rd Quarter

The 3rd quarter ends on March 19.  ALL past due school fees (lunch debt, T-Care charges, library fines, instructional fees, tuition…) must be paid in full in order to receive your child’s report card and to view their grades online at Fast Direct.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. 

St. Patty’s Dance

Calvary Lutheran School is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day dance on Friday, March 19, 7:30-9:30pm.  All 6th through 8th graders are invited to attend. 

Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart

1st through 8th graders are invited and encouraged to participate in Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart on Wednesday, March 24, from 3:45-4:45, in the gymnasium.  Permission slips and sponsor forms will be sent home with students next week.

Stations of the Cross

The 8th grade students will be performing the Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 26, at 2pm.  All are invited. 

Please note that there will not be Chapel on Wednesday, March 24 due to Stations of the Cross on March 26.

Spring Break

Spring Break is March 29 - April 2.  Trinity Care will be available each day from 7am-6pm.  Please sign up in the Trinity Care room if your child will be attending Trinity Care during Spring Break.  School lunches will not be available, so children MUST bring a sack lunch and a drink each day.

Also, school will not be in session on Monday, April 5.  Trinity Care will be open from 7am-6pm.  School lunches will not be available, so children attending Trinity Care MUST bring a sack lunch and a drink on this day as well.

Market Day

Order some delicious Market Day items!  There are yummy cinnamon rolls, ground beef, potato skins, twice baked cheddar stuffed potatoes, and much more on sale this month!  Order forms must be completed and returned by Friday, April 2, or place your order online at www.marketday.com.  Internet orders need to be placed by midnight Saturday, April 3.  Orders will be ready for pick-up on Thursday, April 8, from 3:30-4:30pm.

Dress Code

A student’s dress is an important part of their success.  The dress code for students in grades 1-8 is:

  • Shoes that have a back to them
  • Pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts that are clean and without holes or fraying
  • Shirts that are received through Trinity or Lutheran High School

Special days may be approved by the principal.  Any questions about appropriateness of attire are directed to the principal.

2010-2011 Dress Code

Next Year will see some changes in our school dress code.  The dress code for the 2010-2011 school year for students in grades K-8 is as follows: 

· SHIRT - Shirts are to be colored (white, blue or grey), short or long sleeved polo style shirts.  The polo shirt must be plain or it may have the Trinity logo.

· PANTS - Slacks must be khaki or navy blue (cargo style acceptable).

· SHORTS - Shorts must be khaki or navy blue (cargo style acceptable).  The inseam must be at least 5”.

· SKIRTS - Skirts must be khaki or navy blue, and must extend to within 5” of the bend in the back of the knee.

We  short & long sleeved t-shirts and short & log sleeved polo shirts available in the school store.  The cost of the shirts are:

Athletic Awards Date Change

The Athletic Awards Ceremony that was scheduled for Thursday, March 4, has been postponed.  The date has not yet been determined. 

Uniforms

Cheerleaders and basketball players are to return their CLEAN uniforms to Mrs. Starling as soon as possible. 

Irvington Baseball/Softball

The last day to register for Irvington Baseball/Softball is March 13.  You may register online at www.irvingtonsports.org.  Teams are available to boys and girls, ages 4-14.  For more information visit their website.

Re-Enrollment Packets

The 2010-2011 re-enrollment packets have been mailed to your homes.  Save money!  Complete and return your re-enrollment forms along with the $90 registration by April 1, 2010, and save $60.00!  After April 1, 2010, the registration fee for the first child will increase to $150.00.  Also, keep in mind that if a new family enrolls and they tell us you referred them, you will receive a $90 credit.

Financial Aid

You MUST complete a FACTS financial aid online application by April 1, to be considered for financial tuition assistance.  Any applications received after April 1 will not be considered.  Follow the link to the FACTS financial aid application on Fast Direct under the “Links” tab or on our website, www.trinityindy.org, under the “School Links” option or click here.  Paper applications are not available.

Camp Lakeview

Where can your children experience Christian growth while riding horses, canoeing, swimming, doing arts and crafts, playing games, etc.?  At Camp Lakeview!  The camp is located on Lutheran Lake near Seymour, Indiana, and it offers all of the above activities, plus much more!  Registration for the 2010 summer season has begun.  For additional applications or information visit www.camplakeview.com, or call the camp office at (812)342-4815.

Piano Lessons

Get Healthy!

Students who are ill, have fevers, have been vomiting, etc., should stay home and rest.  Please wait until your child’s temperature has been normal for 24 hours without the help of medicine before they return to school.  If your child has vomited in the past 24 hours, please do not send them to school.

FACTS Tuition Management

Parents who wish to make monthly tuition payments are to enroll in the FACTS Tuition Management program.  You may set up your account online using the FACTS eCashier or you may complete a paper application which is available in the school office.  A link to the FACTS eCashier is on the website, www.trinityindy.org, under the “School Links” option. 

Fast Direct

You have online access to your school accounts, send and receive messages to and from the school, check on your child’s homework assignments, and view your child’s grades at http://www.fastdir.com/tlsi.  All Trinity students may access Fast Direct with their own password and screen name, as well.  If you need your screen name and password or you would like your child’s password and screen name, please contact Beth Myers in the school office.

Accelerated Reader List

Does your child need some more AR points?  Check out our AR list at the Warren branch of the Marion County Public Library.  They have it available at the children’s reference desk.  Before looking at the list consult your child’s teacher to find out what reading level would be appropriate for you child.  The AR list is available in the school office as well.

We Recycle!

Bring your empty ink cartridges, dead household batteries, soda can tabs, aluminum cans, old newspapers, magazines, junkmail and envelopes to Trinity.  We have containers for you to place them in for recycling.  There are containers in the parking lot for paper products and aluminum cans and there are containers on the counter beside the gym doors for the other items.  Thank you for recycling.

Arrival and Dismissal

Please read the following instructions carefully:

¨ Obey the 10 mph speed limit, and follow the proper lane directions. The lane closest to the school is one way going south (after the front circle). The middle parking lot lane is one way going north. When you arrive to pick-up or drop-off in the back, please use the far east lane as you drive through the parking lot.

¨ Before 8:00 AM children are to enter the building through the Trinity Care entrance and remain in Trinity Care until 8:00 AM. On days we have a 2-hour delay students arriving prior to 10:00 AM are to enter the building through the T-Care entrance.

¨ Grades 1-8 drop-off time is 8:00-8:10 AM.  On days we have a 2-hour delay the drop-off time is 10:00-10:10 AM for students in grades 1-8.

¨ Kindergarten & Preschool drop-off time is 8:10-8:20 AM.  On days we have a 2-hour delay the drop-off time is 10:10-10:20 AM for Kindergarten students.

¨ Please drop your children off at the north entrance (the middle school wing).

¨ No parking is allowed in back.

¨ Students in grades 1-8 must be in their classrooms by 8:15 AM.  Parents must accompany tardy arrivals to the school office for a late pass.  There is a $1 fee for an unexcused late pass.

¨ AM Preschool pick-up time is 11:00-11:10 AM.

¨ Kindergarten & PM Preschool pick-up time is 3:00-3:10 PM.

¨ Grades 1-5 pick up time is 3:10-3:20 PM.

¨ Grades 6-8 pick-up time is  3:20-3:30 PM.

¨ Any student not picked-up by the end of their assigned pick-up time will be sent to Trinity Care.

¨ Parents are not to drop off and pick up students at the Commons doors.

¨ Early arrivals are to stop and wait beside the recycling bins while younger students are being picked up.

¨ Students being picked up early for appointments must be signed out in the office by a parent/guardian.

Please do not pass vehicles in line during drop off and pick up times.

Daytime Playtime at Gymnastics Unlimited

Gymnastics Unlimited is offering an exclusive playtime for little ones.  Children ages 1-5 years old may enjoy their own playtime in the gym on Wednesday afternoons from 12:30-2:30 PM and Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30 AM.  Parents supervise while the kids bounce, jump and run.  The cost is $3 per child.  For more information call 897-4648 or visit their web site at www.gu-indy.com.  Gymnastics Unlimited is located at 460 Rawles Court, Indianapolis, IN.

LHSI News 

  • Easter Egg Hunt:  The Lutheran High School Alumni Association and The National Honor Society invite children up to age 10 and their families to an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 13, at 9:30am, in the Mary-Martha Commons.  The children will be divided by age groups to hunt for Easter eggs.  The Easter Bunny will be on hand to start the hunt and pose for pictures.  Please bring your own basket, bag, or bucket to collect the eggs.

  • LuFest 2010 - "All Aboard!": Join the 28th annual LuFEST celebration on Saturday, March 20, 2010, in the Grand Hall of the Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station, Indianapolis.  The event will feature dinner with both a silent and live auction.  Black tie optional.  Tickets are $80/person or $800/table of ten.  Purchase tickets online at www.lhsi.org or call 787-5474.  Reserve by December 31, to be entered in a drawing for a free Saturday night stay at the Crowne Plaza on March 20.

School Closing Information 

In case our school would have to close or impose a two-hour delay due to inclement weather or poor road conditions, the following stations will carry this message to you:

Channel 8,

You will receive a message via Fast Direct,

A message will be posted on the church and school website,

and

You will receive a recorded telephone call to the home number on record.

In the event our school would need a two-hour delay, Kindergarten - 8th Grade would begin class at 10:15 AM.  All preschool classes would be cancelled.  Trinity Care will open at 7 AM unless stated otherwise.  Trinity Care will remain open until 6 PM if there are students in attendance.  If there are no students in Trinity Care by 9 AM, Trinity Care will close for the remainder of the day.
